Work in progress...

3:15pm - A 9-patch quilt top that has been in the wip pile for a very, very long time. I do love it, so I don't know why it's taking me so long to do!

9:54am - Just finished this sketch with the theme 'Japanese Garden' for my second embroidery of the Hoop up! Stitch and Send swap over at Flickr. Very much inspired on vintage pattern I was going to use, I've added a couple of animals...

  2. Hey that pattern looks great, love the bunny, and the weeping willow-type tree and asian-type structure do make it look vintagey. Nice work Wombat, can't wait to see it stitched up! Also, it seems like a lot of stitchers also quilt/sew with sewing machine...did you get started with embroidery or sewing first? I don't sew or have a sewing machine, but I'm definitely starting to see the appeal of getting to sew your own lovely things to embroider on...

  3. I started sewing first actually about 2,5 years ago. I bought a 'starters' sewing machine (which I still have) and a couple of books. I would recommend Amy Karol's Bend the Rules Sewing if you are thinking about starting sewing. There are some great projects there and I have learned so much from that book. I feel like I'm still very much a newbie at sewing though. About 2 yrs ago I came across Georgia's great embroidery work on Flickr and she encouraged me to give it a try. I did and now I'm trying to divide my time between sewing and embroidery!

  4. Meloday, I did some sewing at school...and that was *almost* enough to put me off it for life!!! I only started again a couple of years ago. I'd been doing cross-stitch for quite a long time before I started doing the kind of embroidery I do now - that started around the same time I started sewing again too. I think it was all the Flickr and bloggy inspiration that made me do it. :-)
